The Sun

Photobucket

Growing up as a normal kid in society, I learnt of values and principals through our parents; through the way education groomed me; but at the same time there were many values that I've picked up through the frictions of life unconsciously. And that brings us to the story today:

It's a Saturday. I got up in the morning and did something very unusual, hand-wash my clothes. I'll be having a performance in two days time and I wanted to wear this self-designed shirt which was left in the laundry. So i got up, took the laundry bucket and ran water with detergent over that T-shirt, along with the other few pieces in the bucket, white first then the blacks.

After rinsing them separately, I hooked them on hangers and went to the balcony where the sun was shining through. That place is usually packed out with clothes from everyone else from the same floor as we share only one balcony for the laundry of all the 40 residence. I shifted some hangers not belonging to me aside to find some space for my clothes to be dried.

As I was hanging my clothes, white first then black, I moved them a number of times hoping to get equal portions of the sun rays on all of my clothes so that they can dry evenly. While shifting them here and turning their angles there, I realized a beautiful truth.

The sun was and will always be there, generously pouring out its heat on all of the damp clothes. I wasn't actually making much sense by trying to help make sure the sun shines evenly. Growing up in the world, we are always thought to strive our best, to get good grades and prove ourselves more worthy. We are thought that we can be rank based on our grades, and we get different treatment and care if we are in the first class compared to the last. When we grow out of school, the society thought us to be out-spoken, and to get success means to out-perform others, then comes the reward and favor.

The sun thought me a valuable lesson. Regardless of the color of the clothes, its dampness, its quality of material or how much I like the one more than the other, all of them when placed under the sun would get the same amount of sun-rays. No more no less. It hit me that God is exactly like that too. There is nothing that we need to do to earned more of His love and glory. There is nothing we should do to try and use what society teaches us to get more of God. His love is like the sun, whether we try hard enough, or just lay restfully on the ground, the sun would inevitably shine gently and generously on everyone. The same intensity, the same warmth, the same love.

'There are many values that we picked up through the frictions of life unconsciously', and these values that we hang on to may not always be true. It may be defiant to some that receiving without earning hard enough is a joke. But hey, what's the definition of receiving in the first place? It may be hard to comprehend that God loves everyone the same, irrespective of our efforts and deeds, the murderers as much as the pastors, but that's how amazing He is. And that's exactly how it was meant to be.

I thank God, that all I have to do to know more of Him; to receive more of His blessings; and to grow more in Him, is just to let His love shine on me. No competition, no hard works, no striving.

Sometimes, we just have to let the Sun shine.

The Shower

Photobucket

I usually take less than 5 minutes to shower,
not that I don't shampoo my hair,
I'm just fast

but today,

i stayed there a little longer,

just letting the waters run down,
appreciating the brush of splashing waters,
as it showers upon me,
displacing the heat of the afternoon.

Sometimes all we have to do is,
Take a deep breathe, slow down your footsteps, and just

breathe

hello! .... ops sorry

The ringing tone of my phone buzzed through my pocket as i rushed down the stairs. I didn't bother to answer because I knew it was Sung Nung trying calling me up for not being at the hostel gate at 9.30. With a heart that beats out of its routine i ran out from my hostel block towards the gate. Manners are not suppose to be forgotten even if you're not in the mood, so as usual I waved goodbye to the guard at the gates and rushed into the Kelisa parked right in front hostel. Hey, I didn't know Ah Nung brought a new friend along, and he's on the driver seat instead of Nung, i said 'Hi' anyway and cleared the backseat to let myself in. But the weird thing was, the new friend kept staring at me without returning the greeting. I look around wondering whether he was angry at me for being late. He exchanged looks with Nung and looked back at me with the utmost awkward expression, and then it got me!

I was in the wrong car!!!! O.O Embarrassment started to inflate me, I injected my deepest apologies both in words and facial expression and then rushed out of the car. Ah! Another Kelisa was parked behind this one!

What a great way to start a new day! Now i have a new story to tell on "the most embarrassing thing you have ever done".

Good Morning :)

Been staying up to the fresh chilled air

of an early dawn for the past few days.

Being able to witness the dark shy away,

as the sky gets painted like a drawing canvas

with the ever changing shades of orange, dark blue,

and everything in between.

3 more days till my final exams come to an end.

Wonder when will i be able to witness such beauty again.

A Tribute to....

I've been living in the hostel for more than a year.

Despite the impression that people have against it, i'm pretty much in love with it.

Hostel may not be co-ed, where guys and girls live next door and share the same bathroom;

nor does it have deluxe suites or delicious cuisine being served at the canteen.

Which ironically, hostel pretty much have the exact opposite of it, plus the guards that at times givea such a headache to everyone, not including the countless ghost stories being circulated around.

But someway somehow, it has captured this boy's heart and unexplainably, i really like it.

Maybe its because it's so closely assimilated with nature, having hills right at its sides, and beautiful trees waving at you all the time whether you wave back in gesture or not.

or the cooling shades which rustles away the heat of the the sun.

Or maybe the refreshing air you get every single morning when you open the window.

No doubt hostel is a really beautiful place and putting aside every other aspect, nature itself is already a great reason to be living or to move in hostel :) Where else can you find such a peaceful place in the heart of the chaotic, hazy, polluted capital.

Yea, i admit, I've been persuading every single person that has or has not the slightest interest in hostel to move in. I know i make sense, though sometimes I'm doing it plain unnecessarily XD

I guess its just human nature, to share something you really like.

See the birds, that's not all. There are monkeys, eagles, chicken (yes), lizards, cats you name it.

But the sad thing is, these sights are no longer available.Reality has finally confronted mother nature and she has been literally harrested if not raped fatally by the brutalness of civilisation. Hence this post of pictures, a tribute to the nostalgic environment of hostel. Ah, sad.

Flowers of all kinds blossoming on trees, have you seen that? Too bad that they don't even need to wilter no more, just being chop to the ground and rot.

Will be posting up the current faces of hostel the next time, meanwhile, let's give a piece or two of an appreciation to our surroundings.

Be it the scenery of beautiful sights that we like so dearly,

or the landscape or architecture that we admire,

or the ones that we truly love but never really told em,

or even,

little little things that we got accustomed to,

which are just there, and that we've been taking granted of all this while,

Rethink of how we started to like it, and how it made our day,

and think about what would happen if they were suddenly gone, and how we would regret of not giving it an extra attention, that much of care, love and apologies.

Cause we'll never know when would these beautiful things suddenly just leave our lives,

Just like how i might wake up one day to the horror of a cleared forest when the night before it was still a fertile land of healthy trees.

And just like how a friend may just leave our circle so abruptly when the night before we were still laughing and poking each other happily.

Lets treasure every detail of our lives, value everything that God has given to us, cherish every friend that you could named and appreciate all things that you might possibly be taking granted for.

And if one day any of them went missing, we would be happy to tell ourselves, "yea i'm real sad that its gone, but at least i treasured every moment of it" :)
