Orientation Odyssey Night

It was nearly a month ago when OO night "King" and "Queen" were crowned, meaning to say this post have been a month late. But hey, its never dull to skim through history again.

The night were 12 contestants/finalist of first years that are so called the most outstanding in terms of appearance and talents,(hmm) who have underwent a beauty pageant style of competition, going through training and shopping,(lol) showing off their "talents" and "thinking skills" and finally, get crowned >-<

The **FINALIST**

The 12 were chosen out of all the first years that actually went to audition. The winner, gets a modelling contract and a benchmark "into the entertainment world" (^lol^)

My point here isn't to talk bout how great the contestant was OR WASN'T, but to fill in the experience i had through being a stage crew =)

It was a fine day when a hostel friend didn't feel well. She asked whether i wanted to lend her a favour by filling up her post in OO night. No problemo, just accepted and there, i was in the crew. haha.

The stage of our college hall before we lay our hands on it

The initial idea of building balls -.-'' Piles and piles of newspaper everywhere and we tried wrapping boxes with them.. didn't work out. Tried making frames with wire, wood, polysterene... In the end it was abandoned. Well no worries, more ideas to use on.

The curves! One of the succesful structures that actually worked :P By then a whole bunch of new helpers swam in so work caught up in pace.

Remember the lights? haha. Controversial concept but in the end the light were still covered. Unappreciated beauty.

Now you get what i mean? this mythical beauty was faced to the wall while the covered part face the audience. Sad..sob sob.

Work work work, tiring but it was real raw fun. I like this snapshot. Btw those aren't couples.

Things started to get in place
The curves were up, the lights were hang, so were the golden coloured cloth. It may look as simple as playing the sims or decorating a barby doll's house but honestly, it wasn't an easy job at all. We work for 2 weeks and days mostly ends in midnights.

The finalist doing their practice while we continue our job. We may seem like the lucky ones because we get to see the school "idols" in person, but the euphoria fades real fast and before you know it, you start realising the finalist were just a small part of making the night a success.

The Results :

The Curve! XDD

The finished stage! Filled with the enchantment of granity enlighten by the must precise intensity of interior lighting.

We had a authentic fountain as well. Nice ae? it weights like crazy.

I was wondering all this while, what was the first impression of the audience when the stage curtains rolled out and the enchanting stage glitters before their eyes. My wild guess would be,
WOAA

The night itself,
we the stage crew were the only ones in the hall that has the privilage to be untied by dress-code. haha. (Nothing to be proud of actually.)

Besides being responsible of props, we had our time watching the show for the hundred time >o<

Picture taken while i was hiding behind the external stage (to pop the party ribbons) which was assembled for their catwalking.
Ops ops, upskirt? XD that's my Head of Department in SWC, i would deny even if i saw anything XDD

Being the shadow of someone else's lights,
Being spare the pieces of glimmer after the performer,
One day, i shall have my very own crowd and attention,
And shadows shall be of the past while lights prove me worthy.

okok i was a lil carried away, back to oo XD

I was being skeptical at first as we weren't given any credits for all the hard work we put in as we were just crews, not committee members. However having enduring the long hours, the pain and sweat, and seeing the works fixing into pieces and forming that majestic picture we never expected to see, everything was worth it :)

Besides the unexpected accomplishment we felt, they were some unpredicted happenings as well that had a funny ending.

When the crowns were crowned and people gather on the stage crying hugging and taking pictures, i went to get a fruit tree mango drink to give a quench reward for the tiring day. As i walk back on stage, a few were looking at a fallen spotlight on the stage and smoke were coming out. O ou, it was obviously burned. A man kick the burned spotlight and we found out that the spotlight not only burned itself, it burned the stage right through it! The fire was still going on!

While the guys ran chanting "Air! Air", i automatically poured the mango juice over the burning hole. SSsssssssssssssssssshhh....

Now wouldn't that be a good advertising idea for fruit tree?

Fruit Tree Drinks, Refreshing your Burning Hole

ok that sounds wrong. haha.but its still a good idea!

Lastly, the stage designers doing their last job for the event, decorating the Stage Director's car XD

Nice right? haha
Happy OO night everybody :)
