Well if someone actually let me, i would really stay home everyday and "shake leg" or just rot. Thankfully, there are friends that are so enthusiastic bout going out that i won't have the chance of even letting the rotting process begin.
Thanks to the enthusiasm, i caught on it too! So, we decided to go on out to find fun in the city that we are so familiar with, that too often we take things for granted. I always thought,
"What if someday there are a bunch of foreign friends that came visiting, and i were to show them around and stuff, would i know where to?"
Good. So here we are, re-appreciating Kuching, the place i thought was incomparably boring. (alamak reappreciating lagik) What!! we shouldn't take things for granted what!
First of, we went to Civic Centre
Civic center is build for, i don't know what reason. But it is one of the points in Kuching where you can have a full view of Kuching. From the outskirts to the city and back to the mountains.
It has a restaurant and pub up there, which was recommended by Kennysia. Though its no match for the revolving restaurant on KL tower, its still humbly comfortable both in sight-viewing and price.
It might not be such a great idea to get your first impression of Kuching from up here. Because it gives an impression of tininess to Kuching. Well Kuching maybe small but the view on top unnecessarily emphasize it.
Located just opposite Civic Center is Sarawak Club. A club house where they served the best butter prawns. It was started by the British and i believe its history date back to a hundred years old.
There's this place which we use to have choir performance and orchestra music. Don't really understand why the wide space for performance but it does look grant, like some greek ritual.
After sight-seeing a hundred feet above the ground, we went to a park 4minutes drive away.
They called it "Taman Budaya" which means, cultural park. But i really don't understand why :P
I think we have a handful of parks that are named similar. hehe.
Mum and dad use to bring us here we loafs of bread, to feed the fishes! =D
And i remembered the taekwando stamina training i use to have here =/
People normally have their morning walks or jogs round here. Athletes who are under serious training runs here as well. So by evening, it would not be too exaggerating to called the place pack. And i remembered the taekwando stamina training i use to have here =/
The scenery might not be the main attraction for the joggers, but the peace and quietness certainly is a major factor.
Old trees, green grass, birds chirping, nothing much but a normal combination of nature, yet they never fail to refresh the minds of passer-bys.
That's all for this post (was thinking of the word "episode" but it might sound too cocky). I've still got plenty of photos from a bunch of trips around hometown to share.
Hopefully, these might ignite nolstagia to fellow Kuching-ians, or convince those that are half-hearted bout visiting Kuching, and those that have already plan to come! XD
